Greetings from Sunrise
English as a Communicative Tool and a Window to the World.
Greetings, I am Takeshi Saiki. As Director of Sunrise Kids International School.
To me, it has all boiled down to a simple question: "What educational tools does a child need in the 21st century?" The world becomes more globalized with each passing year, and the advent of the Internet, smartphones, tablets etc. allow us increasingly to communicate beyond our geographical borders. However, though we have incredible technological tools, we still need the educational tools to make such technology meaningful - and in most instances the most crucial educational tool is the English language.
At our school, goes beyond such vague notions as "improving one's English" and "learning to speak English". Instead our goal is to develop a mindset where children not only speak English but also understand its use as a means to communicate and share ideas on a global scale.
We not only accelerate a child's English learning, we also develop the proper mindset for using English.
With this goal in mind, our philosophy is not to "teach English". Instead, we strive to create a positive learning environment where English is the primary form of communication. We endeavor to develop proper English in our children, but at the same time, we want them to be curious. Our philosophy is development through use - the use of English not as a goal, but as a means to understand the world and each other. It is my hope that through our school and our teachers that we can develop children with a rounded view of the world who are ready for an international future.
